With clients as diverse as American Water and Essex County Council, we understand how varied lone working can be in the real world. While it is immediately obvious that some workers will be working alone or out-of-sight of colleagues, some workers may only occasionally work alone, or may be in a customer-facing role which brings its own risks. And because we have a range of devices, services and apps, we can make bespoke packages for every organisation’s needs.

Award-winning protection

Lone Worker Solutions, and strategic partner, Mitie, won the award for ‘Best Deployment of Lone Worker Technology’ at the 2016 Security and Fire Excellence Awards. This was for our deployment for Northumbrian Water Group.

The 2016 Security & Fire Excellence Awards recognised the very best people, projects and processes that the security and fire sectors has to offer. Each year, around 1,000 of the industry’s foremost practitioners gather at London’s prestigious Hilton Hotel on Park Lane to recognise and honour the magnificent achievements of their peers, at the sell-out event.

Lone Worker Solutions began 2016 announcing the five-year contract award to provide lone worker protection for some of Northumbrian Water Group’s (NWG) 1,500 staff (read the full story here >) . NWG had conducted a lengthy and rigorous competitive selection process involving 46 technology providers before selecting LWS’s proprietary platform LoneWorker Manager.

Diane Somerville, Health, Safety and Environment Consultant Team Leader at NWG commented: “Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our staff is an extremely high priority for Northumbrian Water Group and it helps us attract and retain skilled employees. Feedback from staff on the new solution has already been overwhelmingly positive. Our employees are telling us that the system is easy to use, and we are delighted that we are delivering on our ongoing commitment to improving the quality of working life for our team.”

The platform: LoneWorker Manager

Our proprietary platform, LoneWorker Manager is a multi-functional, secure, web-based system with integrated safety applications. The platform connects lone, remote and vulnerable workers via dedicated devices, mobile phones and computer applications to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Support can be proactive, reactive or emergency, depending on the individual worker’s needs at any particular time. Not only does this give workers themselves peace of mind, but it allows managers to control risks and meet the requirements of health and safety legislation. By accessing an accurate cross-device snapshot of activity, managers can demonstrate to auditors and directors that a safety culture lies at the heart of their corporate governance.

The widest range of devices and apps

Lone Worker Manager is specifically designed to work on the widest possible range of devices. It supports Windows, iOS, and Android smartphones; BlackBerry and standard mobile phones; discreet and intrinsically safe devices; satellite phones, and it also works on desktops and laptops.

No other platform supports such a broad range of lone and remote working protection tools.
Lone Worker Solutions can provide a comprehensive range of best-of-breed devices including easy-to-use SOS products, satellite phones and intrinsically safe devices.

Simple to customise, easy to manage

The platform provides the highest-possible degree of flexibility around the number of lone workers which are supported, and the level of support and protection which each of them requires. We can deploy a range of devices, apps and features to make a bespoke package work.

Alarm Receiving Centre

All this is made possible as the software platform is supported by MiTec, a state-of-the art Technology Centre and Category II Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). Category II means the ARC holds the BS5979 Gold Category II accreditation, the highest-possible award from the National Security Inspectorate in the UK. MiTec’s ARC operates around the clock and throughout the year, processing alerts from the LoneWorker Manager platform using the very latest voice and data communications technologies.
