With lone worker personnel working on development sites throughout the normal working week and at weekends, Burton Property recognised the need to offer better protection than their existing reliance on mobile phones and landlines. They chose Safe Hub, and specifically the Safe Check, Red Alert and Yellow Alert features to ensure the safety of their lone workers.
Safe Check provides proactive protection
Safe Check sends lone workers a voice, text or email message at pre-set intervals, according to each individual’s personal risk assessment. The message requests an identity code to confirm that the individual is ‘OK’. If all is well, Safe Hub simply resets until the next message response is due.
There is a pre-defined timeframe for the lone worker to respond. If no response is received within that timeframe, the system goes into alert mode. Safe Hub is connected to the state-of-the-art MiTec Technology Centre and CAT II ARC (Alarm Receiving Centre). Once an alert is received, the MiTec ARC acknowledges the alert to the lone worker and manages the alert through agreed escalation procedures. If required, the platform directly contacts the emergency services via Unique Reference Number (by-passing ‘999’ call centres). This allows lone workers to get the required support or emergency help quickly and effectively.
Safe Check can be activated or deactivated on any standard mobile, smartphone (Android, Apple iOS and Windows), laptop or PC as required, and is also supported on a number of our dedicated devices. All the end-user’s interactions with Safe Check are accurately logged by date, time and activity.
Red Alert and Yellow Alert provide emergency help and a virtual buddy
In a crisis situation, your lone worker simply pushes the pre-set Red Alert button or icon on the app to raise the alarm. This connects them instantly to the Safe Hub platform, which will identify the person, their location and what support is required for that individual. They may have had an accident, or they may feel in danger (in which case they can alert the ARC discreetly). In any case, the person will know that help is on the way.
A second dedicated Yellow Alert key or app icon lets your lone worker leave a voice message to tell you exactly where they are, in case an emergency situation arises. This can give particular peace of mind to lone workers in the field or people working alone in large office buildings or outside of normal working hours.
Safe Hub logs every Red or Yellow Alert with detailed time, date and message data which is essential for your health and safety management, audit reports and lone worker duty of care compliance. It also sends out daily messages about lone worker safety and reminds people working alone to activate their support and safety modules.
