Lone Worker Solutions (LWS) is delighted to announce that it has signed a three-year contract with Storm Aviation to provide protection for its lone workers. Utilising our proprietary Safe Hub system, potentially vulnerable workers will access emergency and reactive support via our market leading SOS Fob devices.
Safe Hub protects line maintenance engineers
Storm Aviation is a leading international provider of line maintenance for commercial aircraft operators, working with Lufthansa, Emirates, Swiss International Airlines and EasyJet amongst others. The SOS Fob devices will be deployed across the UK, Europe and Africa to engineers who are working alone, or out-of-sight or earshot of colleagues. As the company provides a 24-hour service, these lone workers will often be operating at anti-social hours, so they need support and protection that operates around the clock too.
“At Storm Aviation we integrate safety into every decision we make. Because of the hazardous nature of our operations, we identified that we needed to implement a lone working strategy that allowed us to continue to deliver the high level of service our customers demand whilst ensuring we maintained personnel safety and operational flexibility. Lone Worker Solutions have given us the ability to continue our operations with peace of mind that we are exceeding all regulatory requirements and that all of our staff are protected when working alone. This level of cover demonstrates that personnel safety is a key priority for the organisation and allows us to control and manage risks to our staff and ensure continuity of our operations.” Ray Cogan, Health and Safety Manager Storm Aviation
Voice and data communication technologies
Safe Hub uses the latest in voice and data communication technologies to connect lone workers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to a state-of-the-art Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), Mitec. The system is BS8484 Gold certified, and provides global support to clients and their lone workers. As well as working across smartphone and computer apps, the feature-rich system uses the widest possible range of dedicated devices, including the specially designed pocket-sized SOS Fob.
Emergency support through Safe Hub’s Red Alert feature
The company chose SOS Fob as the device to be used by its staff for a number of key reasons. For emergency support, a prominent SOS button triggers the Red Alert feature, with high-quality 2-way audio allows users to speak with operatives at the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). In the event that the user falls, or suffers an impact or collision, built-in motion and shock sensors can provide reactive support by automatically raising an alert with the ARC (Worker Down).
Ray Cogan added “Choosing Lone Worker Solutions was an easy decision to make because they are partnered with Mitec, who monitor our systems and staff safety round the clock, which alleviates pressure on our organisational resources and allows us to focus in other areas knowing that our systems are taken care of. From identifying our requirements to implementing our systems and developing our response plans, Lone Worker Solutions provided guidance and assistance at every step. The ongoing support is excellent and this continues to give us the peace of mind that we need, we now know our staff are protected wherever they go’.
Crucially, SOS Fob is lightweight, compact, waterproof and discreet. Moreover, the device is user-friendly and convenient, and features a long standby time, rechargeable battery, and micro USB charger.
