Celebrating lone workers who work over Christmas

Lone Worker Solutions wish all our customers and their lone and remote workers a safe Christmas and a very merry New Year.

In case of any problems, our support team will be available every day throughout

the festive period from 9 AM till 5 PM (including Christmas Day and New Year's Day).

For most people, Christmas is the chance to take a break from work to spend time with family or go on holiday. Lots of us look forward to Christmas. We’d hate for anything to spoil it. For example, if a relative was taken ill suddenly at home or someone else had an unfortunate accident. After all, putting up that Christmas tree can be a dangerous affair. Especially after too much eggnog. Our worst nightmare would be a power cut on Christmas Day, just as we’re starting to prepare lunch. We expect our houses to be warm and our Wi-Fi to work and our trains to run on time (sort of). Naturally, we can take it all for granted. However, behind the scenes, there are those who work tirelessly to make sure the festive period runs smoothly. That’s why we’re all about celebrating lone workers who work over Christmas.

Hard working heroes

Santa might be the hardest working person at this time of year, but at least he’s got Rudolph and the elves to keep him company. Down on the ground (or perhaps up a telegraph pole, if you’re an engineer fixing an electrical fault) things aren’t always so cosy. Hospitals don’t close down over Christmas. People don’t stop getting ill or having accidents. Long-term illnesses don’t helpfully go away. So, let’s say thanks to all those lone medical staff, health visitors, paramedics, hospital night porters and admin staff who work over the holiday season to look after us.

Celebrating lone workers who work over Christmas

We’re giving a big shout out to all those field engineers who leave their comforts at home and come out to make sure our home comforts are met. That’s not forgetting all those lone workers back at the ranch. There will be thousands of lone workers in offices and always on call, should someone need to call. Thousands of us hit the roads, trains and air at Christmas. Even if we’re used to train delays in the UK, we want it all to work at Christmas. It’s not the fault of the front-line staff who work all hours in adverse weather to fix problems. We salute all those in high-vis vests! Similarly those lone workers and emergency teams who work through the festive period, to make sure our roads are safe and our journeys hassle-free.

Keep cool and carry on

There’s a lot of pressure for Christmas to be perfect. So when things go awry, or the worst happens, it’s understandable to want to vent your feelings. Unfortunately, it’s often those who are first on the scene to help, who get it in the neck. The solitary soul working an emergency helpline who gets subjected to a torrent of abuse. Hopefully, nothing will go wrong this Christmas. However, if something does happen, take a moment to remember that the people who are called to fix the problem are just doing their job. How can you join us in celebrating lone workers who work at Christmas? Maybe offer someone a mince pie, or wish the voice on the other end of the phone a happy Christmas. It will make a massive difference to those who are working alone while it can feel like the rest of the world are having fun without them. Join us in celebrating lone workers who work at Christmas.
