Protecting US lone workers wherever they may be

Protecting US lone workers wherever they may be

It’s the second of our series of blogs about North American companies who’ve recently signed up with Lone Worker Solutions. We’re very excited to be working in the USA, with a range of companies across various economic sectors. This time the focus is on US lone worker protection in transport and environment, manufacturing and construction, and services, science and technology.

US lone worker protection in transport & environment

Many workers in the transport and environment sector often operate alone, from engineers to drivers, and from customer-facing roles to support staff. And we’ve recently signed up clients who operate in the air, on land and at sea. TAC Air operates fixed based operations (FBOs) throughout the United States. Each of their FBO locations offers a wide range of aviation support services to meet the needs of customers. Additionally, we’re providing our services to the TACAir subsidiary, Keystone Aviation. This company provides a complete aviation solution for aircraft charter, management, maintenance and aircraft sales & brokerage.

On land, we’ve got two new clients. Fresh Ideas (which also operates under the Costa brand) has been servicing the foodservice industry for more than sixty years. The Fresh Ideas division produces hundreds of fresh-cut fruit & vegetable line items, including custom blended salads, prepared vegetable and pasta salads, stir-fry and julienne vegetable blends. Meanwhile, Cordova Solutions

are experts in third-party logistics (3PL) and transportation. This California-based company provides solutions for supply chain management from freight to dedicated warehousing and public storage

When it comes to US lone worker protection, our clients may be at sea – but we are certainly not. National Response Corporation operates the NRC Liberty, a pollution control vessel out of Miami, Florida. With a gross tonnage of 200 tons and a length of 33 metres, there may be times when crew on board are out of sight or hearing of colleagues. We’ll be able to provide the support they need. The ship is currently in the Caribbean Sea, working to control pollution.

Constructing a robust lone worker protection system

In the manufacturing and construction sector, there are also a variety of roles where workers sometimes operate alone. SOPREMA is an international manufacturer specialising in the production of innovative products for waterproofing, insulation, soundproofing and vegetated solutions for the roofing, building envelope and civil engineering sectors. Founded in 1908 in Strasbourg, France, SOPREMA now operates in over 90 countries. We support the Canada-based subsidiary of an international corporation.

Lone workers in pharmaceutical services need protection too

In the services, science and technology sector, workers may be alone or out of sight or hearing from their colleagues for a proportion of their working day. We have two new clients in this sector. Patheon is a pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organization. It provides contract development and manufacturing services of prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceutical products for approximately 400 pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

Meanwhile, Tecan is a leading global provider of automated laboratory instruments and solutions. Their systems and components help people working in clinical diagnostics, basic and translational research and drug discovery bring their science to life. In particular, they develop, produce, market and support automated workflow solutions that empower laboratories to achieve more.

We’ll be keeping you up-to-date on our presence in the North American market. Look out for forthcoming case studies, and details of US new clients as they come in. We’re confident that more and more companies will want to offer our US lone worker protection to their employees. Wherever they operate, lone workers can get the support they need – as soon as they need it.

About Lone Worker Solutions

At Lone Worker Solutions, it’s our business to protect employees, managers and shareholders from the risks associated with working alone. This includes the potential hazards faced by staff who work by themselves, remotely, or out-of-sight or earshot of colleagues. When it comes to safety we don't believe in a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach; instead, we tailor our solution to each organisation's exact needs.
