Red Alert gets the basics right with emergency response for lone workers


Red Alert offers emeregncy support in a crisis

We often talk about the range of scenarios which lone workers face in their everyday work practice. With six million lone workers in the UK, there are probably as many subtly different risk situations they each face over the course of their working day. But for a lone worker safety system, it’s essential to get the basics right. And with Red Alert from Safe Hub, lone workers in a crisis can be confident of getting the emergency help they need as soon as they need it.


Red Alert to our Alarm Receiving Centre

Red Alert helps lone workers in a crisis. If they feel at risk or need support, they just select the Red Alert option on their device. This will immediately open a two-way call with highly trained staff at the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). The ARC operates 24/7/365, guaranteeing a response in seconds.


The ARC officer has secure access to the worker's personal emergency escalation process and real-time GPS location. The ARC staff use the initial seconds of the call for active listening, in the event that a vulnerable worker can’t speak freely. All calls are recorded, and these recordings are admissible as evidence in a court of law, for example in case of prosecution for an assault.


Once the ARC officer has started undertaking their dynamic risk assessment, they’ll know the next steps to take. The ARC can direct emergency services straight to the worker, bypassing 999 call centres and saving critical time. Red Alert can also be used as a virtual buddy. The ARC operative will stay on the call with a worker, should they feel at risk. For example, if they’re working late at night and are uncomfortable in a poorly lit car park, ARC staff can stay alert as they walk to their vehicle.


And if there’s a false alarm, the worker doesn’t have to worry that they’ve wasted the emergency services’ valuable time. They can simply tell the ARC to ‘stand down’, and the ARC officer will close off the incident report.

We’re proud of our range of Safe Hub safety features, which cover a range of situations. But whatever device or app lone workers use to access Safe Hub, each and every one of them has Red Alert fitted as standard. At the touch of a smartphone screen or the press of a device’s emergency SOS button, they’ll be connected to our Alarm Receiving Centre whose staff can deal with their emergency.
